Who is Red Tex Bookland?

Founded in 2003 in Hobart, Australia, Red Tex Bookland (ABN:66353075935) is an Australian independent bookseller selling "bargain books".  Our mission is to help people entertain their creative imagination and sustain the environment by "recycling the love of reading".  Satisfaction in our customer service is acknowledging that without you, the customer, and the environment, we do not exist.

 

How do you differentiate yourself from mega chains like Amazon?

Red Tex Bookland is different from the big chains in that it is responsive to the community it is located in.  The dominance of mega on-line retailers has resulted in a permanent shift in industry dynamics.  Yet, our greatest challenge is not the mega stores but being able to serve and satisfy you, the customer.  We are distinguishing ourselves on features like the quality of our selection, helpful service and ties to the local community. The real benefits are valuing customer relationships and their reading interests.

 

What is the focus of Red Tex Bookland?

We generally do not sell current bestsellers, though we have sold a lot of bestsellers.  It's fortunate in a way, because big stores sell those books as loss leaders, so there is little point for us. We owe our success to those customers who search for value priced books. We have many regular customers who have special interests, who are friendly, and community-oriented.  They are committed to independent book sellers who understand more closely their interests and value motives.  They choose to support an independent store and we appreciate that a lot.  Our focus is always the customer before the product.  The relationship with you the customer is the Red Tex Bookland brand.

 

Who would you say is your typical customer?

Our typical customers are people like you, searching for affordable books or a good title to relax with.  The retail world defines book purchases as discretionary.  This may be true, but we think that most of our customers view books as a priority in their lives, and a great source of satisfaction.
